


The Panhellenic Council sponsors a variety of events each semester for Panhellenic women, our student body, and outside community. The events we select each semester help bring our vision for women's leadership, scholastic achievement, diversity, and service closer to the members of our organization and community.

Spring Semester
Staff Appreciation Brunch
Panhellenic women honored staff from every chapter house with Brunch at the Paramount hotel followed by awards, speeches, and special recognition.

Alcohol Education Day
Reitz Union North Lawn
Students walking through campus were able to come by and speak to a number of different resources about the dangerous affects of drunk driving, binge drinking, and alcohol. “Drunk Vision Goggles” were available for students to experience as well as various flyers and handouts on the dangers of alcohol. Sponsored in part by Gainesville Police Department, University Police Department, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Nurses Forum
Sorority Row
The Nurses Forum is discussion offered at various chapter houses where women from the Panhellenic Council are give the opportunity to ask panels of nurses from Shands Hospital any questions about general health, fitness, sexual health, and nutrition.

Greek Blood Drive
Week long event sponsored in part by the Greek Community to help raise awareness for the need of blood donors in our community. Chapters compete to see who can donate the most blood in their name to the LifeSouth Blood Bank.

Women’s History Month Speaker
The Panhellenic Council sponsors a keynote speaker honoring Women’s History Month.
2007 Speaker: Lori Hart Ebert
How can we make life GREAT again? In this empowering keynote, Lori Hart Ebert challenges women to raise their own expectations of Life, and to become the role models of leadership they were intended to be. This event is being co-sponsored with Women’s Leadership Council and Student Government.

Greek Week- All Greek Service Day
All four Greek councils at the University of Florida come together during Greek Week hosted by Order of Omegato participate in a variety of service projects across Gainesville. The Panhellenic Council was a proud participant of this event and sent over 500 women last year to volunteer throughout the area..

Fall Semester
Panhellenic Block Party
Norman Field
The Panhellenic Council sponsors a unity kickoff event the week before Recruitment for all existing Panhellenic women. Since the week of Recruitment is exhausting but rewarding for all of us, this is a time for Panhellenic women to come together and relax before beginning Recruitment and school.
The 2007 service initiative included a “Stuff the Bus” event at the Block Party where members of Panhellenic brought school supplies for Alachua County students and loaded them onto a big yellow schoolbus.

New Member Forum
Reitz Union
This is a conference for new members to get an in-depth look into their own Panhellenic Council. There is one main introduction session where an overview of the Panhellenic Council is given and the executive board is introduced. Following the opening session participants break off into 3 session groups where members can choose three from the following topics: Time Management, Resume Building, Business Etiquette, Leadership, Body Image/Nutrition, Greek History, PC History, and others.

Panhellenic Mocktail Party

The Alcohol Education Division of PC sponsors this event and encourages new members to attend the party between the Alcohol Education Speaker Sessions. Participants from each chapter bring their favorite Mocktails and Panhellenic provides the cookies!

Professionals Roundtable
Reitz Union
This event targets graduating juniors and seniors of the Panhellenic Council by hosting a speaker to discuss topics relating to professionalism and business. Following the presentation, professional members of the community are available for question and answer at tables that are organized by topics: Dining with professionals, Networking, Interviews, Resumes, Attire in the workplace.
Panhellenic 5K
The Panhellenic Council sponsors an annual 5K Run and Walk benefiting Peaceful Paths, a domestic abuse shelter here in Gainesville and the Women Build Alachua, a local Habitat for Humanity program. All members of the community are invited to attend or participate.

Panhellenic Service Project
2007-2008 Service Project supports the Einstein Montessori School and the Alachua County Public School District in local Gainesville. Participants from each chapter will be helping to adopt-a-school providing supplies, tutoring, and recreational time with the students.
